Dean & Deluca is one of my favorite markets to stop by while driving through St. Helena. Not only is it filled with gourmet goodies and treats, but it has an extensive cookware section and wine collection.

        This store has all the necessities of dining according to its natives. The spacious layout of this store lets any customer wander for hours finding dozens of items. Towards the back of the store a sandwich and salad counter offers delicious lunch items. While you are waiting for your order, browse through the isles of cookies, crackers, chocolates, nuts, mustards, and so on. I often find new treats to buy from the different samples that are offered. If you want to put together your own gourmet meal ask some of the helpful staff on anything from unusual cooking tools to an extensive variety of meats and cheeses.

        Many little markets throughout the Napa Valley offer this as well, but Dean and Deluca goes beyond the common shop. It also offers dessert. A selection of fancy chocolates and coffee drinks line the wall along the way to the checkout counter. And don’t forget the wine. The other half of the store holds a healthy collection of wines along with a few experts to guide you. Dean & Deluca is mostly a selfish stop to buy my lunch or find the extras I need to prepare a dinner, but occasionally it serves as a great place to buy a gift.
